Mané set to retire from international football after the 2026 World Cup
Senegal's talisman is winding down his international career — and the 2026 World Cup looks set to be his final bow.
Sadio Mané dropped a significant hint about his international future after Senegal's AFCON semi-final victory over Egypt, announcing that the final would be his last Africa Cup of Nations. The 33-year-old, who has featured at six AFCON tournaments since 2015 and won the title in 2021, was candid at the post-match press conference.
"I hope we win and bring it home to Dakar," said Mané, who scored the decisive goal against Egypt. "This is my very last AFCON final with the Lions."
While Mané stopped short of announcing a full international retirement, the timing speaks volumes. With the 2026 World Cup just months away, it appears the Al-Nassr striker is eyeing the tournament in the United States as the ultimate — and final — chapter of his international career.
