Argentina's 21-year-old forward Valentín Carboni will miss the 2026 World Cup after suffering a complete rupture of the ACL and a partial tear of the LCL in his right knee during a national team training session. Surgery is scheduled for the coming days.
The cruelest part? In 2024, Carboni suffered an ACL injury to his other knee while at Olympique Marseille — just weeks after lifting the Copa America with Argentina at 18. Now, history has repeated itself on the opposite leg.
Inter Milan, who hold his contract, are already making arrangements for his rehabilitation either in Argentina or Italy. Racing Club, where he is currently on loan, are also exploring replacement options given the length of his expected recovery.
