Colombia Manager Lorenzo: Arias' Wolves Exit Was the Right Move for His World Cup Chances
Wolves couldn't get the best out of him — but Colombia's manager is banking on Palmeiras to revive Arias before the World Cup.
A failed stint in England is behind him — and Colombia's manager couldn't be more relieved.
Jhon Arias' time at Wolverhampton Wanderers didn't go to plan. One goal in 23 Premier League appearances, a near-certain relegation, and a player clearly not at his best. But his €25m January move to Palmeiras may have saved his World Cup summer.
Colombia manager Néstor Lorenzo made no secret of his relief. "Arias was not going to be playing at Wolves — he's gone to Palmeiras to play, to have continuity, to be happy," he told AS Colombia. "That means he can recover his best level and be with us in the best possible way."
Back in Brazil, the environment where he first caught Colombia's eye, Arias now has a real shot at earning his place on the plane to North America.
