Cunha's Form at Man United is Turning Heads — and He's Got One Eye on Brazil's World Cup Squad
In-form, record-breaking, and hungry for a World Cup spot — Cunha is making it very hard for Brazil to ignore him.
A Brazilian record, a revival at Old Trafford, and now a shot at the biggest stage of all.
Matheus Cunha is in the form of his life. Since Michael Carrick took charge, the Brazilian forward has been one of United's standout performers — two goals and an assist in the last five games, including a memorable showing in a 3-2 win at Arsenal. Last season, he set a Brazilian record with 15 Premier League goals, matching Firmino and Martinelli.
Now, with the World Cup approaching, Cunha isn't hiding his ambitions. "I cannot hide the motivation it would be to represent Brazil, especially in a World Cup," he said. "The competition is strong — everyone knows the quality of the forwards — but I trust in myself and my work."
With Rodrygo already ruled out, Brazil's attack is suddenly more open than expected. Cunha couldn't have picked a better moment to make his case.
