Deschamps: "One of the Toughest Groups" — France's 2026 World Cup Path is No Walk in the Park
France dodged nothing — Deschamps is bracing for a baptism of fire as Les Bleus face Sénégal and Haaland's Norway.
France's World Cup draw has Deschamps on high alert from day one.
France were drawn into Group I at the 2026 World Cup, facing Sénégal, Norway, and a Play-off 2 qualifier (Bolivia, Suriname, or Iraq). On paper it could have been kinder — and Didier Deschamps knows it.
"It's one of the toughest groups, if not the toughest," the France manager told L'Équipe, singling out both opponents for praise. "Sénégal are a competitive national team. And I won't say anything different about Norway after their qualifying campaign — they're one of the very best European teams."
Deschamps was clear about what's needed: no slow starts, no complacency. "We need to perform well right from the start before thinking about what comes next." The good news? France will play in the Eastern time zone, easing the travel burden throughout the tournament.
