Lionel Messi has made clear he wants to be part of Argentina's title defence at the 2026 World Cup. Speaking to ESPN, the 38-year-old said: "I hope I can be there. I've said before that I'd love to be there. At worst, I'll be there watching it live — but it will be special."
Messi also revealed he's already spoken with coach Lionel Scaloni, who told him he'd be welcome "in any role." The door is open. Whether Messi walks through it is the question the whole world is waiting to have answered.
