Undav: "It's a Shame I Always Have to Justify Myself" — Germany's Most Productive Striker Isn't in the Squad
Germany's top scorer can't get a call-up — and he's not staying quiet about it.
18 goals, 11 assists, and still not guaranteed a World Cup spot. Deniz Undav has every right to be frustrated.
By any measure, Deniz Undav is Germany's most in-form striker. The Stuttgart forward has been involved in nearly a goal per game this season — more league goals than any other German top-flight striker — yet his place in Nagelsmann's World Cup squad remains far from certain.
"It's a shame I always have to justify myself. I show it on the pitch," Undav told Sky Germany. "If it were up to me, I'd be there."
Nagelsmann has publicly described the centre-forward position as "a construction site we have to fix" — which makes Undav's omission even harder to understand. His response? Keep scoring. "As long as I keep scoring, it will be difficult to ignore me."
