Zidane to Take Charge of France After World Cup 2026
Zinedine Zidane has reached a verbal agreement to succeed Didier Deschamps as France's head coach following the 2026 World Cup.
Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane will become the new head coach of the French national team immediately following the conclusion of the World Cup. He will replace the current manager, Didier Deschamps.
According to information from renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 53-year-old specialist has already given his consent to lead "Les Bleus." Currently, the two parties have reached a verbal agreement, though official documents have not yet been signed.
In January of last year, Didier Deschamps announced that he would step down from his position after the 2026 World Cup.
Zidane's managerial career to date has been spent entirely at Real Madrid during two separate stints (2016–2018 and 2019–2021). Under his leadership, "Los Blancos" secured two Spanish league titles and famously won the Champions League for three consecutive years.
